Personality
A young man who can hardly be found without a smile on his face. Despite his apparently cheerful demeanor he tends to be rather intimidating. In fact, his ever present smile does little to diminish (if not worsen) the creepy aura that lingers around him.
He has the innocence and the cruelty of a child, but is often quite unaware of how his actions would come across to others. Be they perceived as creepy, odd or downright cruel. In all truth, he usually acts on what he believes to be best for everybody. Even if that can come across as a little twisted.
In general, he's a loyal guy, in his own way. He can in fact, be rather caring and big-hearted. Though it must be mentioned that he can become possessive of those he cares for deeply. With his own strong beliefs of what is right and wrong and little restrain when it comes to acting on it.
Background story
Ivan was a playful, adventurous child. A simple country bumpkin. His world was torn apart however, when he lost his parents when he was young. (Mother died in childbirth of his younger sister and his father left shortly after.) He was left to fend for himself, together with his two sisters. In the rough conditions, he had to toughen up fast. What he didn't have in physical strength at the time he made up for by improvising with what he could find. To this day, he still carries a broken water pipe, something he used to bludgeon things with in self defense.
It is easy to say that due to the problems he faced then he never quite matured. His mind is still very much that of a child in many ways.
When Germany betrayed its pact with Russia in WWII (and the war truly started there) he was 16. He was young and could find himself in Stalin's ideals. At the time his mental state, after years of fending for himself, wasn't that great to start with. The army and the battlefield did little to make it any better. He enjoyed himself on the fields, ruthless in killing and in torture, feeling that he was truly making a change for the better, justifying his every action. By the end of the war his ideas and beliefs of right and wrong were needlessly to say somewhat twisted.
His relation with his sister grew strained, for very differing reasons. Ivan too, was hurt by the realization that he might be hurting the ones he was trying to protect, especially in the case of his older sister. Nevertheless, he would keep justifying his actions, convinced that in the end it would be better for everybody.
After the war, he initially had trouble finding work, most places concerned to hire him, specifically with his mental state. Not to mention he developed a slight vodka issue after becoming bored now the war was over. After long searching he found one as a teacher at Fond De L'Etang, where the principal cared little for the sanity or qualification of its teachers as long as they could keep the children under control and get the desired results.
During the war he had developed a fascination with blood, something that would come in useful in his new function as Biology teacher. Together with his rather apt knowledge of how the insides of things worked now.
It would be far from unusual for his class to get dissection lessons.
And his clothes to be covered in blood afterwards.
{{Erm, when there's a Belarus or Ukraine rper I guess they can decide how much they want in on the story?}}
Extras
He has a rather heavy Russian accent. (And a tendency to end his sentences with Da (yes in Russian) when he speaks English.)
Always wears a rather heavy looking scarf (a present from his older sister when they were young), since he gets cold fast without it.
He's just big boned. (;_;) (really) (I swear)
He really just needs a hug.
When referring to his pipe I tend to use the name Kosnite(s). It's an old rp habit I have, so I guess I should mention that here.
RP sample
Wasn't France supposed to be warmer? The faded black and white pictures he had seen, be they at home or in the newspapers, would certainly suggest so. But the train remained cold. Ivan flicked the page of the paper he was reading, though he was not particularly paying attention to it. The latin alphabet was troublesome to read anyway.
His focus lay rather on the people surrounding him in the train. They did not seem bothered by the cold he felt. They were chatting, laughing amicably with one another, as if the previous few years never gone by. A smile crept on his lips too. Soon these men and women would be his family too, after all, wasn't everybody a big family? He would move to France. Go on with his life, as his sister had said.
Inside his coat he could still feel the letters pressed against his heart. A little warmth from the exchange he had with the school where he would soon take up his position to teach.
Idly his eyes rested on an article about the economic troubles, the food shortages. His smile remained, humming softly to himself even. France would be a good place. He pulled on his scarf, fitting it a bit snugger around his neck.
And so would the school. After all, did education not represent a battlefield? All what was needed for those children to be good boys was to be shown what was right and wrong.
Da?
{{My sample is so herpderp and short and fdasperadfs :C. I'm sorry.Haven't played Russia in ages either, please bare with me D: }}
